Meen Illatha Meen Curry| Fish curry without fish| Lent special curry

Meen illatha meen curry/Fish curry without fish :Fish curry without fish is a tasty dish which can be served during Lent/Noyambu time.Here I prepared this dish same as fish curry style.

Ingredients

Raw banana- 2 medium,peeled and cubed

Ginger – a small piece,finely chopped

Garlic – 3 cloves,finely chopped

Curry leaves – 1 Sprig

Fenugreek seeds –a pinch

Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

Kashmeeri chilly powder – 1 tablespoon

Coriander powder -1/2 teaspoon

Turmeric powder- a pinch

Kudampuli/Gambooge – 2 pieces(small)

Coconut oil- as required

Salt- to taste

Water – as required

Chop raw plantain and keep them aside.

Heat oil in an earthen vessel/pan on a medium flame.

Add mustard seeds and let it crackles.
Add fenugreek seeds ,curry leaves and sauté for few seconds.
Add chopped garlic and ginger to this.
Add chopped shallots to this and saute for a couple of minutes until the shallots turns light brownish.

Bring down the flame and add chilly powder, turmeric powder ,coriander powder and saute them to remove the raw smell.
Add required water and salt to this. And let it boil.

Add raw plantain pieces to this and mix well. Add washed gamboge to this .

Close it with a cover and let it cook for 15 minutes on a medium flame.
Remove the lid and ensure that the vegetable cooked properly and masalas are get coated with it.

Sprinkle approximately one teaspoon of coconut oil and turn off the flame now.

Fish curry without fish is ready now.
