Fish- 1 kg
Gambooge/Kudampuli – 3 pods
Ginger -a large piece
Garlic -14 pods
Curry leaves- 2 sprig
Kashmeeri chilly powder – 2.5 tablespoon
Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut oil – as required
Salt-to taste
Clean the fish, cut into medium pieces, wash well and set aside.
In a bowl, add chilly powder, turmeric powder and make a paste adding little water.
Heat coconut oil in a clay pot add fenugreek seeds.
Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and saute for few seconds.
Add crushed ginger, garlic and saute well
Bring down the flame to low.
Add the masala paste and saute for 2 minutes in a low flame.
Add enough water, gambooge pieces and salt to it.
Once started boiling add fish pieces to this.
Cover and cook in a medium flame for about 15 minutes.
Remove the cover, drizzle 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and swirl the clay pot to mix oil evenly.
Turn off the flame now.
