ചുമ്മാ കടലക്കറി എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാൽ പോരാ |Vella kadala curry|Kerala kadala curry

White Chick peas/Vella Kadala – 2 cups
Onion – 1 medium, sliced
Ginger – a small piece-
Garlic – 7 pods
Green chilly – 2 -3
Tomato – 1 medium
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Kashmeeri Chilly powder – 1 tablespoon
Coriander powder – 1 tablespoon
Fennel powder – ¾ tablespoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt-to taste
Coconut oil- as required

Soak chickpeas in water for 6 hours or overnight.

Pressures cook it for 3 whistles adding enough water, a pinch of turmeric powder and salt.

Take a half cup of cooked chick peas along with water,grind it to a smooth paste and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds,wait till it crackles.

Add curry leaves, ginger, garlic,onion, green chillies and saute well.

Add kashmeeri chilly powder,coriander powder and turmeric powder.

Add sliced tomato, saute till it become tender.

Add fennel powder and saute for a couple of minutes.

Add cooked chickpeas along with water,salt and cook for 10 minutes until gravy becomes thick.

When the gravy is thick,add in ground chickpeas paste to this and mix well.

Switch off the flame after 2 – 4 minutes.
