Ingredients
– 1 cup of toor dal ( soaked for 15 minutes )
– 1 or 11/2 cup of water
– 1 tsp of salt
– pinch of turmeric
– oil
– 1 tsp of cumin seeds
– 1 tsp of mustard seeds
– few curry leaves
– 2 tsp of ginger and garlic paste
– 2-3 green chillies
– 1 chopped onions
– 1 chopped tomato
– 1 tsp of red chilli powder
– 1 tsp of coriander powder
– 1 tsp of cumin powder
– water
– coriander leaves
– 2 dry chillies
– 1 tsp of garam masala
Method
– In a pressure cooker add toor dal ( soaked for 15 minutes ), water, salt and turmeric
– Mix it well and let it cook for 2 whistles
– Heat a pan and add some oil then add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger and garlic paste and green chillies
– Turn off the flame of pressure cooker
– Add chopped onion to the tadka and cook it well
– Add chopped tomatoes to the tadka
– In the tadka, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, water and coriander leaves
– Add 2 dry chillies
– Add the cooked dal into the tadka
– Add garam masala, coriander leaves and the dal is ready to be served.
