Masala Khichdi – Bengali Style Masala Khichuri Recipe – Special Monsoon Recipes

Ingredients of Masala Khichdi:
1. Deradun rice / Basmoti rice (1.5 cups).
2. Masoor daal (1 cup).
3. Chopped onion (1 big size).
4. Chopped tomato (1 big size).
5. Chopped coriander leaves (2 tbsp).
6. Slitted green chilli (4to5).
7. Ginger garlic paste (2 tsp).
8. Cumin powder (1 tsp0.
9. Turmeric powder (1 tsp).
10. Red chilli powder (¼ tsp).
11. Cumin seeds (½ tsp).
12. 2 Bay leaves.
13. 2 dry red chilli.
14. Garam masala powder (1/2 tsp).
15. Salt (as per your taste).
16. Sugar (as per your taste).
17. Mustard oil.

How to make Khichuri:
1. Heat the pan and add 3 tbsp of mustard oil.
2. Add ½ tsp cumin seeds, 2 dry red chilli, and 2 bay leaves. Fry for 15 sec.
3. Add chopped onions. Fry it well.
4. Add 2 tsp ginger garlic paste. Fry it for 1 min in medium flame.
5. Add ¼ tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp salt, chopped tomato, and green chilli. Mixed it well.
6. Add some water and cook for 1 min in high flame.
7. Add rice and daal. Mixed it well.
8. Add ¼ tsp garam masala powder and ¼ tsp sugar. Mixed it well.
9. Now cook in high flame for 1 min.
10. Add 5 to 6 cups water. When boiling cover it for 15 min. Stir between occasionally.
11. After 15 min add 2 tbsp coriander leaves and ¼ tsp garama masala powder. Mixed it well.
12. Put off gas oven. Masala Khichdi is ready.
