Doi Potol – Popular Bengali Spicy Delicious Dahi Parwal Recipe

Today We will learn another Famous Bengali Recipe Doi Potol. It is a very Spicy and delicious Bengali recipe with pointed gourd. Bengali Doi Potol or Dahi parwal is a very popular Bengali Veg Recipe. So let’s watch how to make Dahi parwal or pointed gourd with plain yogurt and make it at home.
Ingredients of Bengali Vegetarian Dish Doi Potol / Dahi Parwal:
1. Potol/Pointed gourd/Parwal (500gm).
2. Chopped onion (1 medium size).
3. Onion paste (1 medium size).
4. Ginger paste (2 tsp).
5. Tomato purie (1 small size).
6. Garam masala
7. Cumin powder (½ tsp).
8. Red chilli powder (½ tsp).
9. Plain yogurt
10. Garam masala powder
11. 1 bay leaf
12. Turmeric powder (½ tsp).
13. Salt (as per your taste).
14. Sugar (as per your taste).
15. Refined oil
16. Slitted green chilli (2 nos).
Methods of How to cook Doi Potol:
1. Marinate the pointed gourd with ½ tsp of turmeric powder, and ½ tsp of salt. Keep it for 10 min.
2. Heat the pan and add refined oil. Fry the entire pointed gourd very well. Keep aside.
3. Add garam masala in 5 tbsp of hot refined oil. Add bay leaf. Fry for 15 sec in medium flame.
4. Add chopped onion. Fry till golden brown.
5. Add onion paste. Fry for 1.5 min in high flame.
6. Add tomato puree. Fry for 1 min in high flame.
7. Add 2 tsp ginger paste and slitted green chilli. Fry for 1 min in high flame.
8. Add ½ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder. Mixed it well.
9. Add ¼ tsp salt, and ½ tsp sugar. Mixed it well. Now cook in medium flame for 1 min.
10. Add 5tbsp yogurt. Mixed it well. Now cook in medium flame for 1 min.
11. Add fried pointed gourd. Mixed it well. Close the lid. Now cook in medium flame for 5 min.
12. After 5 min taste it. Add more sugar and salt if required.
13. Add ¼ tsp garam masala powder. Mixed it well.
14. Put off gas oven and close the lid for 5 min.
15. After 5 min serve hot Doi Potol with rice, luchi, paratha, or roti.
