On the upcoming auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi learn how to make Panchkhadya & Khirapat – a kind of prasad / holy offering from our chef Archana on Ruchkar Mejwani.
Panchkhadya is a type of holy offering prepared from 5 important ingredients starting for “kha”, such as khobra (coconut), Khas khas (poppy seeds), khajur (dates), kharik (dry dates) & Khadi Sakhar (rock sugar crystals).
Khirapat is a quick and easy holy offering prepared from dry ingredients such as grated dry coconut and powdered sugar.
Ingredients:
For Khirapat
1 Cup Grated Dry Coconut
2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
1/4th tsp Cardamom Powder
Method:
– In a pan dry roast grated coconut and powdered sugar.
– Roast everything for 2 minutes.
– Switch off the flame and add cardamom powder. Mix well.
– Khirapat is ready.
For Panchkhadya
100 gms Dates (Khajur)
100 gms Dry Dates (Kharik)
1 Cup Grated Dry Coconut
3 tbsp Sugar crystals
2 tbsp Poppy Seeds
Method:
– In a pan add dates and dry dates. Roast them well
– Add them in a mixer grinder and grind it coarsely.
– Remove it in a bowl.
– In another pan add grated dry coconut, sugar crystals and poppy seeds. Roast everything well.
– Add the mixture in a grinder and grind everything to a smooth powder.
– Add this powdered mixture to the dates mixture. Mix everything well.
– Panchkhadya is ready.
