  • My (Belur) ajji used to soak and drain chopped Kalale everyday for 3 days before she cooked it with brown Chana/kadalekalu served with akki rotti. We get it in can here in USA already chopped, cleaned in cans but don't get the same flavor of fresh Bamboo shoot. In Asian stores like Vietnamese stores, we do get fresh tender Bamboo shoot sometimes and I always bring home some. My husband is also from around Hassan, so he loves it too. Great video.
