പച്ചരിയോ അരിപൊടിയോ ഇല്ലാതെ നല്ല സോഫ്റ്റ് അപ്പം||NO RICE NO RICE FLOUR SOFT APPAM KERALA VERY EASY
Rava – 2 cups (non roasted)
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Baking powder – ¼ tbsp
Yeast – ¼ tbsp
Grated coconut – 2 handfuls
Salt – ½ tsp
Water – 2 ½ cup
Hi everyone, today let’s prepare a very soft and very delicious breakfast recipe without using rice or rice flour..
For that, I am going to powder 2 cups of non roasted rava in a mixer grinder..
If you have measuring cups, make sure to use them, else you may use normal drinking glasses. Also, make sure to measure the rava and water in the same glass/cup..
To the powdered rava, add a tablespoon of sugar, ¼ tablespoon of baking powder, ¼ tablespoon of yeast, two handfuls of grated coconut, along with half teaspoon of salt
Do not add too much salt at this point, you can taste the better when it’s ready and add more salt if required..
After adding all the ingredients, grind it again so that all the ingredients are mixed well together..
Once everything is mixed in and combined together, add 2 cups of luke warm water
Never add very hot water to this, else the yeast won’t work
After adding 2 cups of water, grind it again into a paste
Even if you think the consistency is right to make appams, Add half more cup of water because the rava will absorb a lot of water from the better and will turn a lot thicker that it is at this point.
After adding half a cup of water, let it sit for around 10 minutes and grind it well again
After 10 minutes, grind again and the batter is not ready to be fermented..
Now, leave the batter to ferment for around 3 to 4 hours until it rises into a fluffy and soft batter
The time to ferment the batter may vary depending on your weather conditions.. Therefore, make sure to make appams only after the batter has become soft, fluffy and bubbly.
When the batter is fermented and ready, taste it and add more salt if required
After fermentation, heat a pan and pour a ladle of the batter on to the pan and cook it with a lid closed on it
The appam is ready to be served!
You can make it either on a flat pan or an appam pan ..
You can also make them as thin or as thick as you like
You can enjoy your appams with milk, sugar or egg curry.. 🙂
