SPICY BEEF CURRY–Select HD Quality
Description :
Ingredients:
Beef – 600g (Cut into small pieces)
Onion – 2 medium (Thinly sliced)
Ginger – 1 big piece (Crushed)
Garlic – 10 fat cloves (Crushed)
Green chilly
Curry leaves
Tomato – 2 big (Chopped)
Turmeric powder – ½ tbsp
Coriander powder – 1½ tbsp
Kashmiri red chilly powder – 1 tbsp
Fennel seeds – 1½ tbsp
Cardamom seeds – A pinch / 4 cardamom
Cloves – 6
Star anise – 1
Cinnamon – 1
Whole pepper – ½ tbsp
Salt
Oil
Steps:
Heat a pan and dry roast the whole spices – fennel seeds, cardamom seeds, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, whole pepper.
Once it becomes hot, remove from the pan and finely powder.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add onion, ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaves.
When the onion becomes soft, lower the flame and add turmeric powder. Sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add coriander powder and sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add red chilly powder and sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add tomato.
Cover and cook on medium flame till tomatoes are done.
Add beef, half of the ground garam masala powder, salt and water required to cook beef. Mix well.
Increase the flame.
Cover and bring it to boil.
Switch to medium flame.
Cover and cook till the beef is cooked and the gravy thickens.
Add the remaining garam masala.
Switch off.
Serve the beef curry with hot rice.
Note:
If you are using the beef which does not get cooked easily, like the one we get in Kerala, pressure cook the cleaned beef along with some salt, turmeric powder and crushed ginger for one whistle on high flame and on a medium flame for another 20 minutes. Then add this half cooked beef to the masala.
