Parippu Curry–Dal Tadka Recipe

Ingredients:
Toor dal – 1½ cup
Tomato – 2 (Chopped)

Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
Onion – 1 small (Chopped)
Ginger garlic paste – 2 ½ tbsp
Green chilly – 7 small (Chopped)
Curry leaves
Dry red chllies
Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp + ¼ tbsp
Red chilly powder – ½ tbsp
Asafoetida / Hing – ¼ tsp
Salt
Coconut oil

Steps:
Pressure cook cleaned dal for 1 whistle on high flame and for 10 minutes on medium flame adding enough water and ¼ tbsp turmeric powder.
Let the pressure release naturally.
Open and stir well.

Turn on the stove and add tomato and salt.
Boil it uncovered for 5 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan for tempering.
Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add cumin seeds.
Add onion, ginger garlic paste, green chilly, dry red chilly and curry leaves.
When onion starts to turn golden, add turmeric powder and roast on low flame.
Add red chilly powder and roast well.
Add asafoetida.
Switch off and add this to the curry.
Leave it covered for a minute.
