Pacha Mulaku Aracha kozhi Curry ||Green Chilly Chicken Curry

Description :

Ingredients:
Chicken – 1 kg (Cut into medium pieces)
Green chillies – 26
Onion – 3 medium (Finely chopped)
Ginger garlic paste (Grind 14 garlic and 1 big piece ginger)
Cashew nut – 75g
Curry leaves
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 3 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Fennel seed powder- 1 tbsp
Thick coconut milk – 1 glass
Thin coconut milk
Coconut oil

For seasoning:
Coconut Oil
Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
Shallots chopped – 3 handfuls
Curry leaves

Steps:
Add cashew nuts and some water to a pan.
Cook covered for 5 minutes.
Grind to a fine paste adding 5 sprigs of curry leaves.

Grind ginger and garlic to a fine paste adding some coconut oil.

Grind green chillies to a fine paste. No need to add water.

Heat oil in a pan.
Add chopped onion and sauté well.
Once it starts to change the colour, add ginger garlic paste.
Lower the flame and mix well.
Add green chilly paste and mix well till the raw smell goes.
Add turmeric powder. Sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add coriander powder and sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add chicken pieces, salt and pepper powder. Mix well.
Cover and cook the chicken on a medium heat. Don’t add water.
Chicken releases moisture upon heating.
Once the gravy gets dried up, add thin coconut milk. Add salt, if needed.
Cook covered on high flame and bring it to a boil.
Reduce to medium flame once it starts boiling.
Add fennel seed powder and garam masala.
Once its ¾th cooked, add cashew paste.
Mix well and cook covered for 5 minutes, stirring in between.
Once it starts thickening, add thick coconut milk and bring it to boil well without covering.
Switch off.

Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds.
Add curry leaves and chopped shallots and fry till it turns golden brown.
Add this to the curry.
Enjoy the green chilly chicken curry with appam, chapathy or rice.
