Delicious spicy kerala style fish curry
Ingredients
Fish – 1kg (clean and cut the fish to medium sized pieces)
Shallots – 8 nos.
Curry leaves – 1spring
Turmeric powder – 1 /2 tsp
Fenugreek – 1 tsp
Chili powder – 2 tbsp
Asafoetida – 1 small piece
Ginger crushed – 1
Fish tamarind(kudampuli) – as needed(Wash and soak them in water for at least 15 minutes )
Coconut oil
Method
Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add fenugreek seeds followed by curry leaves.
Add chopped onions followed by ginger sauté for a minute. Add asafoetida.Saute until golden.
Turn the heat to low add turmeric powder,sauté till its loses it’s raw smell..
Add chilli powder and fry it at low heat(take care not to burn it).switch off flame and move the mix to a bowl. Let the mix cool a bit and grind to a fine paste with enough water.
Add the ground mixture to a claypot/meen chatti with enough water.Add Fish, tamarind and salt.Cover till it boils.
Add fish to the boiling water.Cover and cook until the fish gets done.
Check seasoning add salt if needed.Switch off flame and Enjoy!!!
