Boli /Sweet poli Trivandrum delicacy Perfect Recipe
Description :
Ingredients:
Chana dal – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Maida / All purpose flour – 2 cup
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Oil – 1½ tsp
Rice flour (For dusting)
Salt
Water
Steps:
Pressure cook the chana dal adding 1½ cup water for one whistle on high flame and for 20 minutes on medium flame.
Let the pressure release naturally.
Make a dough out of maida adding salt, turmeric powder, oil and water.
The dough should be thinner than roti dough.
Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Mash the cooked chana dal and add sugar.
Turn on the flame.
Once the sugar melts, cook stirring till the mixture becomes thick.
Switch off and let it cool.
Mix well with hands.
Grease your hands and pinch small balls from the dough.
Flatten it on your palm and place a small ball of the filling on it.
Seal the edges.
Dust it with rice flour and flatten it to a thin disc using a rolling pin.
Heat a tawa and grease with some oil.
Place the boli on the hot pan and cook both side flipping.
Enjoy the Trivandrum style boli.
