Hi everyone, today let’s make a sweet broken wheat snack using banana and peanuts..
To prepare the batter, you will need half a cup of broken wheat of any type, soaked in water for around 30 minutes..
Firstly, add soaked broken wheat in a mixer grinder, along with a little more than a handful of peanuts, three pods of cardamom, and half of a large banana and grind it into a fine paste without adding any extra water..
Make sure to use ripe and sweet nendrapazham (kerala banana)
Once the batter is ground and ready, add a little salt to taste and grind it well again and transfer into another bowl..
You can add black sesame seeds or kalonji for taste .
Just in case if your mixture is a little thin and runny, you may add a little rice flour to adjust consistency.
We have added half of a banana to this batter for sweetness.. but if you prefer these to be more sweeter, you may use jaggery or sugar as per your taste preference.
If you are using sugar or stoneless jaggery, grind it with the paste..
But if your jaggery contains stones in it, melt it with very little water and strain it before you add it to the mixture.
Make sure to not add a lot of water, else the batter will turn watery and runny.
Once the paste is ready, dampen your palms and scoop out a little from the batter and shape it into round vadas (or donuts) with a hole in the middle, and drop them in oil to fry..
Fry these slowly, on a medium to low flame so that they cook through..
One they are crispy and golden on the outside, remove it from the oil and transfer to a serving plate and enjoy the snack!
