ബാക്കി വരുന്ന ചോറു കൊണ്ട് പാൽ പായസം || left over rice paal payasam Episode :812

Description :

Ingredients:
Cooked rice – 2 cups (Any variety)
Sabudana/ Sago Pearls / Chowari – 1.5 handfuls
Sugar – 1.5 to 2 cups
Milk – 4 cups
Coconut bits
Ghee
Crushed cardamom
Water
Salt

Steps:
Soak sabudana in water for 5 minutes and drain.

Heat a pan and add 1 cup of water and 2 cups of sugar.
Stir continuously once the sugar starts to turn golden.
Once the sugar gets caramelized and turns golden, reduce the flame and add 3/4 cup water.
The mixture thickens and melts away in a while.
Add cooked rice and sabudana. Bring it to boil.
Let it boil for 10 minutes. Stir often.
Add milk and crushed cardamom.
Let it boil till the mixture starts to thicken.
Switch off. It thickens further on cooling.
Add a pinch of salt.
Roast coconut bits in ghee and add it to payasam.
Enjoy the paal payasam.

Notes:
-You can also add roasted cashew nuts or raisins.
-If payasam becomes too thick on cooling, add boiled milk to adjust the consistency.
