ചോറ് കൊണ്ട് പാലട… നല്ല എളുപ്പത്തിൽ മധുരമൂറും പാലട പ്രഥമന്‍/Palada Pradhaman Episode :859

Description :

Ingredients:

For ada:
Rice flour – 1 cup
Cooked rice (any variety except basmati rice) – 1 cup (I am using Kerala matta rice)
Oil – 1 tsp
Banana leaves

For payasam:
Sugar – 2.5 to 3cups
Milk – 8 cups
Water – 2 cups

Method:
Grind cooked rice and rice flour into a thick paste adding little water.
Add oil and pulse.

Spread a few spoons of the batter into the banana leaf / aluminium foil as a thin layer.
Fold the leaf carefully. Tie it up with a string if you are using fresh banana leaves.

Repeat the process for the rest of the batter.

Boil water in a wide pan.
When it comes to a rolling boil, slide the folded banana leaves to the pan and cook uncovered for 10 minutes.

Transfer the cooked ada to a bowl of water (at room temperature) and let it sit for another minute.

Then open the leaf and slide out the ada to the water.
Gently rinse the ada under running tap water and cut into small pieces.

To make payasam, heat a wide pan and add two cups of water and eight cups of milk.
Bring to a boil. Stir often and scrape the sides.
Add sugar and cooked ada.
Cook uncovered stirring continuously till the mixture reduces to half.
Turn off the heat and keep stirring for another 10 minutes to avoid the formation of cream on top. It further thickens on cooling.
