Hi everyone, today let’s make a delicious snack using leftover cooked rice..
You can use any type of cooked rice for this recipe
To prepare the snack, add a cup of cooked rice into a mixer grinder and grind it into a very fine paste by adding as little water as possible and transfer it into a bowl..
Next, into the ground rice paste, add enough rice flour and knead it into a chapati dough like dough, by adding a little oil as well..You can use roasted or non-roasted rice flour.
While kneading the dough, if the dough sticks to your hands, wash your hand once in between and knead again so that everything remains neat.
Knead the dough and leave it to rest for around 10 minutes until we prepare the filling..
To prepare the filling, first dry roast half a cup of washed rice of any type until all the rice grains pop and roast well, and keep aside to cool
Next, roast one and half sliced onion and a few curry leaves in some oil and add a small lemon sized piece of tamarind into the onion when it starts to change colour and roast well..
Next add whole dried red chilli, both Kashmiri red chilli and normal rates red chilies, according to your taste.. use chilli flakes only if you do not have whole dried red chilies.
Next go in with some salt to taste, and sauté well.
Next, let it cool down completely before grinding into a paste.
First, powder the roasted rice in the mixer grinder and then grind the roasted onion paste..
Once the onion paste is made, mix the prepared rice powder into the prepared Chutney and mix well into a thick chutney.. Do not add too much powdered rice, else the chutney will turn dry..
Once the Chutney is ready, separate small chunks from the prepared rice dough and flatten it into a small circle by using your fingers, in your hands.
Once you have spread the dough into a circle, place a small ball of the prepared onion Chutney and close it inside the rice dough sheet and enclose it really well in the sheet
I have got eight such balls from the mixture..
Next, you may cook these balls in steam or you can cook these by immersing them in boiling water, like I am going to do in this video. .
Leave the balls in boiling hot water on a medium flame for around 15 minutes and it’ll be fully cooked..
After around 15 minutes, take it out of the water and serve it..
