Description :
Ingredients:
Pachari / Raw rice / Sona Masoori rice – ¾ cup (Soaked for 3 hours)
Thick coconut milk – 1.5 cup
Egg – 1
Cardamom – 6
Sugar – As needed
Salt – A pinch
Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
Steps:
Grind drained rice to a smooth paste adding coconut milk, as needed.
Add the remaining coconut milk in batches and adjust the consistency of the batter.
It should be slightly thinner than the idly batter.
Transfer this to a bowl. Set aside.
Add egg, deshelled cardamom and sugar as needed to the mixie and blend.
Add this to the batter. Add salt. You may also add some ghee.
Boil water in a steamer.
Place a greased steel plate in the steamer and pour the batter to the plate. (Fill till half only)
Sprinkle some cumin seeds on top.
Cover and steam for 15 minutes.
When it starts to leave the sides of the plate, switch off and remove the plate.
Let it cool down. Slice and enjoy the Kinnathappam
