Description :
Ingredients:
Urad dal flour – 1 cup
Roasted rice flour / Idiyappam podi / Puttu podi– 6 tbsp
Cumin seeds – As per taste
Black sesame seeds – A pinch
Asafoetida / Hing – Two pinches
Salt
Hot water
Steps:
Mix urad dal flour, rice flour, salt, black sesame seeds, cumin seeds and asafoetida.
Add hot water little by little and make a smooth dough. (I used a ½ cup and a few tablespoons of water.)
Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes. This is optional.
Pinch gooseberry sized portion of the rested dough and roll it into long thin stick/rope.
Make small loops and cut out the portions.
Join two ends by pressing gently.
Repeat for the rest of the dough.
Heat oil in a pan to deep fry
Gently drop the muruku to hot oil and fry on high flame for a minute and then on medium-low flame.
Flip and cook both sides. Transfer to a plate. It will turn crispy as it cools.
Enjoy the ring murukku with a cup of tea.
Notes:
To make urad dal flour, just grind the urad dal in the mixie.
