3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon asafetida, hing

1 green chili finely chopped
1/3 cup of water
Also need oil to fry

  • Hi Manjula Ji, Thattai is a traditional south indian snack, and I am happy you showed us this recipe. Just for your information, Thattai tastes very good when you add some finely chopped curry leaves( kari patha) the chana daal should be soaked in water before adding it to the rice flour, also if you add a tablespoon of udad daal flour to the rice flour, the texture of your tattoo is going to be great and more flavorful. For those who are not allergic to peanuts, may add roasted peanuts to the dough before frying.

  • The "one cup" that you show in this video is way bigger than the American one cup measure. When I used just one cup of that I had something the consistency of thin pancakes. I had to add at least another cup of flour to make the dough stick together and spread without falling apart.
