  • Yum ; very tasty Manjula! I had some collards on-hand and wondered if I could find a recipe using some Indian spices. My wife hid the dried red peppers from me, but I had some fresh/frozen red peppers that worked fine. I'll have to cut the salt in half next time, but I'm just sensitive to it because I usually do reduce it. Thanks so much for sharing. This is a definite keeper.

  • i find that the american (Georgia style) collard greens don't fry up that well. or at the very least, they cannot be fried too long as they go tough.

  • Manjula, I normally watch this video to remind myself of the recipe, and I love it. Today, however, I used the recipe on your website. Since you don't specify that the leaves are large in the recipe, 1 tsp was too much salt. 🙁 Please edit the recipe on your website to reflect that the quantity should come out to 4 cups, and that we should adjust the salt accordingly. I'm pretty sure I'll never make that mistake again. 🙂

  • I didn't have the ingredients that Manjula used, but I did have bacon and onions! lol. So I used what I had, and it was deeelicious 🙂 … Hubby…born southerner loved them also. What a great idea Manjula…thank you! I had only ever cooked the collards one way before, boiling the heck out of them with a ham hock (if my husband insisted!) and salt. Now, … where is that ginger….. 🙂

  • I don't prefer collards but if Manjula cooks it, I'm sure I'll love it. There's a cooking terminology for rolling the leaves and slicing into ribbons, what is it? Chiffon?

  • This just the nature of the greens.

  • Dear Manjula,
I love this recipe, have made it several times, and shared it with friends and family. I did leave out the salt, and let my family season it to their own tastes. It is our favorite way to enjoy collards…they are tender, but not soggy as in other recipes. Thank-you!
