Ingredients:
6 sheets of phyllo dough (one package weigh 1 pound and have 18 14 x 18 inches sheets)
1/2 cup clarified butter
1/2 cup ground almond
1/2 cup ground walnuts
1/4 cup coconut powder
1/2 teaspoon cardamom 1/3 cup sugar

Syrup
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Hello Ma'am my husband just loves bakhlava. He has tried various bakhlavas in several mediterranean resturants but haven't liked it much. I made it for him just like u taught and it turned out simply great !! He loved it and everyone asked me for the recipe too. Thankyou for your wonderful recipes 🙂

  • Coconut is not a typical ingredient in baklava. Another tip- baklava should be hot and the syrop cold when pouring over.
    Cardamom is great and used widely in middle-eastern cousine.

  • Awesome job..I am vegan so instead of salt less butter what is the vegan substitute?is the phyllo dough vegan?If not how can I have baklava vegan style?So glad you dont use honey!!!When I was just a vegetarian years ago I use to LOVE BAKLAVA!!!

  • Baklava comes from Turkey and Russia. it made with Honey, Phylo dough and nuts. various nuts are used. the old recipe calls for Spelt dough from the days of old.
