TOMATO GOTSU (THAKKALI GOTSU ) | Mallika Badrinath Recipes | Side Dish For Idly and Dosa

THAKKALI KOTHSU – For Idly and Dosa:
Ingredients:
(Finely cut) Tomato Juice – 1 ½ cups
Garlic– 7 cloves
Finely cut onions – ½ cup
Salt – to taste
Sugar – ½ tsp
Oil – for frying
Roast :
Red chillies – 6
Dhaniya – 1 ½ tsp
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Pepper – 6
(Roasted) Poppy seeds – 1 tsp
Grated fresh coconut – 1 tsp
Raosted gram – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
Asafoetida – little
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Coriander leaves – little
Method:
1.Heat little oil, fry red chillies, dhaniya, jeera, pepper and then add coconut. Take out.
2.Grind it along with powdered roasted poppy seeds, roasted gram to a smooth paste.
3.Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and then sliced garlic.
4.Fry well by adding onion and then ground paste.
5.Saute well for few minutes, pour tomato juice along with little water.
6.Add salt and sugar. Boil for few minutes. Serve with Idli or Dosa.
