Mamidi Kayi Pappu
INGREDIENTS
Cooked Toor Dhal (De-husked Red Gram Dhal) — ½ Cup
Onion — 1 Finely Cut
Green Chillies — 5
Raw Mango (Diced) — 1
Salt — To Taste
Tamarind Extract — Very Little
Red Chilli Powder — ½ Tsp
For Tampering
Oil — 1 Tsp
Mustard Seeds — ½ Tsp
Black Gram Dhal — 1 Tsp
Curry leaves — 1 Spring
Asafoetida powder — 2 Pinches
METHOD
1. Wash Red Gram Dhal and add water, turmeric powder and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
2. Boil onion, mango pieces and green chillies in enough water.
3. Cook until mangoes turns soft; add thick tamarind extract, salt, chilli powder.
4. Boil for 2 minutes, add cooked dhal and continue to cook for few more minutes or until thick.
5. Heat oil, add tampering ingredients, pour on top of dhal and serve.
