Kovil Puliodharai

INGREDIENTS
Raw Rice (Cooked) – 1 Cup
Tamarind Paste – 1 1/2 Tblsp
(Diluted with Little Water)
Asafoetida Powder – 1/4 Tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 Tsp
Salt – 1 1/2 Tsps
Sesame Oil – 2 Tblsps
Fenugreek Seeds – 1 1/2 Tsp
Pepper – 1 1/2 Tsp
Sesame Seeds – 2 Tsps
Jaggery – Optional

Seasoning Ingredients:
Mustard Seeds,
Black Gram Dhal,
Bengal Gram Dhal,
Fenugreek,
Broken Red Chillies

METHOD
1. Cook rice until each grain remains separately (Just Soft).
2. Cook thoroughly and separate the grains.
3. Heat oil, add seasonings. Pour over rice.
4. Sprinkle salt, turmeric powder (half of it) on top.
5. Dry roast fenugreek, pepper, sesame seeds separately. Pound separately.
6. Heat little more sesame oil in a kadai. Pour tamarind pulp, allow to boil along with asafoetida, turmeric. Add salt, jaggery when it thickens.
7. Pour over rice along with powdered ingredients. Mix gently and serve.
