Mathi(Chala) With Manga Curry Kerala Style/Vattukappa with Mathi curry

Here I introduce a traditional combination of Cooked Tapioca with Sardine(mathi) curry.This is a popular dish in Kerala especially in Malabar Region. In this recipe sardine cooked along with Raw mango.

Ingredients used:

Sardine – 1 kg

Ginger and garlic – 1 tablespoon each
Shallots – 1 tablespoon
Green chilli (optional)-As per individual taste
Raw mango – as per your sourness
Oil
Salt
Water

Curry leaves

For masala:

Coconut(grated) – 1 handful

Curry leaves – few
Chilli powder – 4 teaspoon(2 teasp.Kashmiri )
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Water

Grind all the above ingredients as a fine paste

For tapioca masala:

Grated coconut : 2 handful
Dried kanthari or green chilli: As per your taste
Shallots : 3 or 4
Curry leaves : Plenty
Pepper
Turmeric powder : 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder : 1/2 teaspoon

Grind all the above ingredients. No need make a fine paste.
Dried Tapioca should be soaked in water and then cook.
