Let’s make Diwali special wheat shnakarpali today. So far we have seen different shankarpali recipes. This is yet another addition to the list. It doesn’t need lot many ingredients. You can easily make it from very few ingredients those are readily available in your pantry. Why only for Diwali? Make it on any other day and kids will be happy. It can be a good option for evening or tea time snack. This shankarpali turns out nice and flaky. It gets many layers and turns crispy too!! It looks nice and tastes just awesome. Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup / 75 ml Milk
• 1/2 cup / 100 gm Sugar
• 1/2 cup / 50 gm Ghee
• 3 cups / 450 gm Wheat flour
• 250 ml Oil for frying
Method:
• Heat up a pan on medium heat and add milk and sugar.
• Mix well and simmer the mixture until sugar dissolves.
• When milk begins to boil and sugar dissolves, turn the gas off and add ghee. Mix well.
• Mix wheat flour and the milk mixture well together and knead dough.
• Make sure to knead the dough while the milk mixture is still hot. We need stiff dough.
• Take small portion from the dough and make a ball.
• Roll out a little thick chapati and cut it into shankarpali.
• Remove the edges and keep the shankarpali aside.
• Heat up oil on high heat for 3 minutes and when the oil is hot enough, reduce the heat to low.
• Drop shankarpali into hot oil and fry well until it gets nice golden color from both sides for about 4
minutes.
• Take the shankarpali out, drain excess oil and transfer it into a dish. Shankarpali is ready.
• You can make around 700 gm shankarpaki from the proportion used.
