Masoor dal amti is a very easy and simple recipe. This is flavorful and nutritious dal. It is made from Masoor i.e. whole red lentil. Basically amti being comfort food, you have it in your regular meals. Let’s learn to make masoor dal amti.

Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup Masoor
• 1 Finely chopped Tomato
• 1 Finely chopped Onion
• 1 1/2 cups Water
• 1 tsp Oil
• 1 tsp Mustard seeds
• 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
• Curry leaves
• Hing / Asafetida
• 1 tsp Chopped Garlic
• 2 tsp Fresh coconut
• 1 tsp Goda masala
• 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
• Water
• Salt to taste
• 3~4 Cocum
• Jaggery
• Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Method:
• Take masoor and soak them in enough water over night.
• Next day, transfer soaked masoor into pressure cooker.
• Add tomato, onion and water. Close the lid and cook on medium
heat until 2-3 whistles.
• Open the lid and beat dal with a beater.
• Heat up oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
• Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle up.
• Add curry leaves, hing and chopped garlic.
• Fry for about a minute until garlic gets nice golden color.
• Add fresh coconut, goda masala, red chili powder and turmeric
powder.
• Mix well and fry for about a minute.
• Add beaten dal and water. Mix well.
• Add salt, cocum or tamarind pulp and jaggery.
• Mix well and cook on medium heat for about 5-6 minutes.
• Turn off the gas and add coriander leaves.
• Masoor dal amti is already.
• You can have masoor dal amti as it is as soup.
• It goes well with bhakari or chapatti.
• It goes well with rice too. You can add ghee if you want.
