Today, let’s see how to make soft and multilayered chapati. We have started bachelors’ basic recipe series. This is one of such recipes. This chapati turns out nice and soft. It gets many layers and remains soft longer. It puffs up like puri!! A typical Maharashtrian meal comprises of chapati, sabzi, dal and rice. Making poli is a bit tricky. You may also call it as layered poli. The difference between roti and ghadichi poli is in the name itself. You have to do ghadi that is fold the poli while rolling it. Only then it gets layers. I will share many tips and tricks to make perfect chapati. Try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Do not forget to like, share and subscribe.
Ingredients:
• 2 cups Wheat flour
• Salt to taste
• A little more than 1 cup Water
• Oil
Method:
• Mix wheat flour and salt well together and add a little water at a time.
• Mix it well with a spatula.
• Repeat the process until the flour comes together like dough.
• Knead the dough well and add water if needed.
• Make the dough smooth and even.
• Wet your hand with a little water and knead dough really good. It should have semisoft
consistency.
• Coat the dough with a little water and rest the dough for at least 10-15 minutes.
• Knead the dough really good once again.
• Rub a little oil and make small smooth balls from it.
• Take one of the ball and dip it in dry flour.
• Roll out small disc from it and spread a little oil on it.
• Fold it into half and again spread a little oil on it.
• Again fold it into quarter and dip it in dry flour.
• Roll out chapati from it. Roll edges first and then roll at the center.
• Heat up a skillet on medium heat and transfer the chapati on it.
• When lower side is roasted a little, flip the chapati over and roast it well from other side too.
• Spread oil on upper side and flip the chapati over.
• Again spread oil on other side and flip the chapati over.
• When the chapati is roasted well from both sides, take it off on a wire rack.
• When the chapattis cool down a little, store them into a container.
• You can make 6 chapattis from 2 cups wheat flour.
