Let’s see how to make Mumbai Karachi halwa today. Generally one tends to buy this from the market or halwai. But if you can make it at home, then why to buy it? Besides, it doesn’t need lot many ingredients. You can easily make it from very few ingredients those are readily available in your kitchen. This is a very easy and simple recipe. Also, it gets perfect texture that store bought halwa has!! I think this is one of the easiest and delicious halwa recipes that looks nice and colorful and tastes yummy. We already have seen different halwa recipes. This is yet another delicious addition to the list. Try this recipe at home and write to me. You also can like, share and subscribe.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup Corn flour
• 2 cups Sugar
• 1 cup Water
• 1/2 cup Ghee
• Saffron food color (Optional)
• 3 tbsp Melon seeds
• 2 cups Water
• 2~3 drops Kevra essence
• Sliced Almonds
• Sliced Pistachios
Method:
• Mix corn flour and water well together to make slurry and keep it aside.
• Make sure no lumps of corn flour are formed.
• Heat up a pan on medium heat and add melon seeds.
• Roast melon seeds a little until they turn nice and crunchy and take them out into a dish.
• In the same pan add sugar and water and mix well.
• Cook on high heat until the mixture comes to boil and sugar dissolves.
• Turn the heat to medium and cook the syrup for another 5 minutes.
• Turn the heat to low and take few drops of syrup in a dish.
• Let the syrup cool down completely and check the consistency.
• We need single thread consistency syrup.
• Add saffron food color and mix well.
• Adding food color is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want or you can add 1/2 tsp turmeric
powder instead of food color.
• Add kevra essence and mix well.
• You can use rose essence or fruit essence or pineapple essence or any flavor of your choice in
place of kevra essence.
• Mix the corn flour slurry really good and add it into the sugar syrup.
• Turn the heat to high and mix in quickly.
• Cook it well stirring continuously. No lumps of corn flour should be formed.
• Cooked well until it comes together like dough for about 10-15 minutes.
• When the mixture begins to thicken up and bubbles begin to pop up, reduce the heat to medium
and continue cooking.
• Add 1 tsp ghee at a time and mix well.
• When ghee is absorbed well into the mixture add next teaspoon and mix well.
• Continue the process until all the ghee is absorbed into the mixture.
• After cooking for another 15 minutes, the mixture loses its softness and turns chewy.
• It also leaves the sides of the pan and gets nice glaze.
• Add the melon seeds and sliced almonds and mix well.
• Line up a tray with butter paper and transfer the mixture into it.
• Spread it evenly and garnish with melon seeds, pistachios slices and sliced almonds.
• Press it well and let the halwa set for about 30 minutes.
• Losen the edges with the help pf knife and flip the tray over into a dish.
• Cut the halwa into pieces and Mumbai Karachi halwa is ready.
