रवा उकडीचे मोदक बनवण्यासाठी लागणारे साहित्य

• १ चमचा साजूक तूप

Rava ukadiche modak is a Ganapati festival special recipe. For making ukadiche modak the basic thing needed is rice flour. One might find it difficult to make modak using this rice flour or someone may not have it. Then in such cases you can use rava for making ukadiche modak. These modak turn out nice, soft and white. It will be very difficult to know that these modak are made using rava. These remain nice and soft long time. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Ingredients:
Stuffing
• 1 tsp Ghee
• 1 tsp Poppy seeds
• 1 tbsp assorted Dry nuts (Optional)
• 2 cup shredded fresh Coconut
• 1 cup Gudh / Jaggery
• 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
• A pinch of Nutmeg powder
Cover
• 1 cup Water
• 1/2 cup Milk
• 1 tsp Ghee
• Salt to taste
• 1 cup fine Rava
• Few Saffron strands

Method:
• Heat up a pan on medium heat and add ghee, poppy seeds, dry nuts.
• Adding dry nuts is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
• Fry together for about a minute and add coconut.
• Fry for about 3-4 minutes and add gudh.
• Cook everything well together for another 4-5 minutes until gudh melts.
• Turn off the gas and add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder.
• Mix well and let it cool down. Stuffing is ready.
Cover
• Heat up water and milk together on medium heat.
• When the mixture begins to boil turn the gas to low heat and add ghee, salt. Mix well.
• Add a little rava at a time and mix in quickly. No lumps of rava should be formed.
• Mix everything well together and turn off the gas.
• Cover and steam it for about 10 minutes.
• Transfer the ukad into a dish and knead it really good.
• Dip your hand in water and knead ukad with wet hand.
• You can do this process in food processor to save time.
• When the dough becomes nice, soft and smooth, take small portion from it.
• Roll balls from the dough and keep them covered with cotton cloth.
• Take one ball and make pari like we make for modak.
• You can grease your hand with a little water or ghee.
• Pinch the edges to make “kalya” or “palkya.”
Modak
• Fill in the stuffing into the cover and bring the edges together.
• Close the edges together and seal it well.
• Keep the modak cover with cotton cloth.
• Garnish modak with saffron strands and place them on a banana leaf for steaming.
• You can use wet cotton cloth in place of banana leaf.
• Heat up water at the base of the steamer and place the modak dish on it.
• Close the lid and steam modak on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes.
• Turn off the gas and let the modak be in the steamer for another 5 minutes.
• Take the modak and rava ukadiche modak are all ready.
• You can make around 15-16 modak from the proportion we have used.
• You can use cooker or big pot or big kadhai if you don’t have steamer.
