Let’s see how to make Diwali special crispy shev today. Shev is all time favorite snack. Of course, you can make it on any other days than Diwali too!! It is used as a topping for upma or poha or any chat item. It tastes great just by itself. This is a very easy and simple recipe. The main ingredient is chick pea flour or besan. It not only looks tempting but also tastes simply delicious. Yet another Maharashtrian recipe that is crispy, crunchy and simply irresistible. Try this recipe at home and write to me. Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup Water
• 1/2 cup / 250 ml Oil
• Salt to taste
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp Red chili powder
• 3 cups / 300 gm Besan
• Oil for frying
Method:
• Mix water, oil, salt, red chili powder and turmeric powder well together and beat the mixture really
good until the color changes and it turns nice and homogenous.
• You can use mixer or hand blender or immersion blender for this process.
• Sieve besan into the wet mixture and mix well.
• Knead semi soft dough.
• Take a small portion and make a smooth log from it.
• Fill it into the shev mold and press it well.
• Heat up oil on high heat for about 2-3 minutes and when the oil is hot enough, turn the heat to low.
• Roll out shev into hot oil and fry it well from both sides.
• When shev is fried well from both sides, take the shev out, drain excess oil and transfer it on a wire
rack. Shev is ready.
• You can make a little more than 500 gm shev from the proportions used.
• When shev cools down completely store it in an airtight container.
• It has shelf life of about a month.
