Though you are fasting, you can have idly. Yes, we already have seen upwas idly recipe. Today we are making a little variation to make stuffed upwas idly. It is easy to make and tastes just awesome. As it is stuffed idly, you can skip chutney and have it as it is. Do try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Do not forget to like, share and subscribe.
Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup Sabudana
• 1 1/2 cup Varai
• 1 cup Curd
• 1 cup Water
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp Ghee
• 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
• Sweet potato chopped into small pieces
• Red chili powder
• Black salt
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp Roasted peanut powder
• Finely chopped Coriander leaves
• 1/2 tsp Baking soda
Method:
• Take sabudana in a blender jar and blend it into coarse powder or
rava.
• Add varai and just blend it. Do not blend it into powder.
• Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
• Add curd and mix well.
• Add water, salt and mix well.
• Cover and rest the mixture for about 15-20 minutes.
• For stuffing, heat up ghee in a pan.
• You can use peanut oil in place of ghee.
• When ghee is enough hot add cumin seeds, sweet potato and mix
well.
• Add red chili powder, black salt, salt and mix well.
• Add a little water and mix well.
• Cover and steam until ratale gets cooked for about 4-5 minutes.
• Do not cook the ratale completely.
• Add roasted peanut powder, coriander leaves and mix well.
• Fry for just another 2 minutes. Stuffing is all ready.
• Add baking soda in the batter and mix well.
• Grease the idly stand well with oil and add 1 ladleful mixture in
each mould.
• Add stuffing on it and again add batter on it.
• Heat up 1-1 1/2” water at the base of idly cooker and transfer the
idly mould in it.
• Close the lid and steam idly on medium heat for about 15
minutes.
• Take the idly stand out and let it cool down a little.
• Take the idlies with the help of a knife or spoon.
• Stuffed upwas idly is all ready.
• You can have this idly as it is or with chutney.
• You can have it with shengadanyachi amti too.
Tips:
• You can use 2 cups buttermilk in place of curd.
• If you use buttermilk then no need to add water.
• You can skip cumin seeds and coriander leaves if you don’t have
it for fasting.
