उकडीचे मोदक / Ukadiche Modak by madhurasrecipe Marathi

Step by Step guide to make Ukadiche Modak at home. Ukadiche Modak is a very popular Maharashtriann dish prepared during Ganesh Festival.

Ingredients:
• 1 tbsp Ghee
• 1 tsp Poppy seeds
• 1/2 cup grated fresh Coconut
• 1/4 cup Jaggery
• 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
• 1/2 cup + 1-2 tsp Water
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp Ghee
• 1/2 cup Rice flour

For stuffing:
• Heat a pan on medium heat.
• Add ghee. Add poppy seeds. Roast the poppy well.
• Add fresh coconut and cook for 2-3 minutes.
• Add jaggery. You can vary the proportion of jaggery according
to your taste. Mix well.
• Cook for 4-5 minutes. Switch off the gas and add cardamom
powder.
• Let the mixture get cool. Your stuffing is already.

For covering –
• Heat water on medium heat. Add salt, ghee. Let the water boil.
• Turn off the heat and add rice flour. Mix well. No lumps should
be formed.
• Cover the pan and keep it for 5 minutes. Take the mixture in a
plate. Knead it into a dough.
• Knead it while it is hot. If required, you can add a little bit of
water while kneading. Knead it until it becomes soft and shiny.
• Take a small tennis ball size dough and roll it into small bowl
(Pari).
• Add 1 tbsp stuffing into it. Roll it into the shape of Modak.
• Meanwhile take 1 inch water in idli cooker and bring it to boil.
• Take a pot. Put a dish on it. Put a wet cloth on the dish. Now
put modak on this wet cloth.
• Put this pot into idli cooker.
• Close the cooker and cook for 15-20 minutes.
• Remove the lid and take out the modak and serve them.
