Sago Masala Khichdi
This masala khichdi (Javvarisi upma )is spicy version .Perfect snack
or tiffin
1cup big sago pearls
rub and rinse in running water till the white starch
gets removed.This process helps to get non sticky sago
ensure that water is clear without starch
drain the water and add cleaned sago to bowl
spread flat and add water
water added till sago immersed not more than this
dont add more water
close it and let it soak for overnight
After Overnight soaking,Sago pearls are bulged
it is soft when pressed
fluff up
No moisture in it .It is dry .This is correct
consistency for non sticky khichdi
salt as needed
chilly powder 1/2tsp
You can increase the chilly powder if you Want more spice
1/4tsp turmeric
1/2tsp garam masala
pepper powder 2 pinch
coriander powder 1tsp
mix well
3Tbs roasted groundnuts
Add coarsely ground groundnut
mix well
taste it and check for spice and salt
add if needed
1 small potato is chopped finely
you can add carrot,beans instead of potato
In a iron pan,add 5tsp oil
1/2tsp zeera
potato 1
2pinch hing
Curry leaf some
fresh green peas1/2cup
If you use dried peas,soak it overnight and pressure
cook till it is soft and then add
cook well.It takes 10mins
salt as needed for veggies
ginger garlic paste 1tsp
vrat version of sago khichdi is given in description

veggies are cooked well
add marinated sago
keep in sim flame and stir often
cook for 2 to 4mins till pearls turn little glossy
DONT OVERCOOK IT .BECAUSE IF OVERCOOKED,
IT TURNS MUSHY AND STICKY
1/2 Lemon juice before serving
garnish with coriander leaf
It will be so soft to eat and yummy too with
coconut chutni or groundnut chutni
