Homemade Cream Cheese | Creamy Yogurt Cheese Spread Recipe

Ever fancied making your own creamy spreadable cheese at home? Check out the recipe by chef Kanak and find out how cream cheese is extremely easy to make at home.

Ingredients:

200 grams fresh chenna / paneer (cottage cheese)
3 tbsp plain hung yogurt
1/8 tsp salt

Method:

– Take some fresh chenna / paneer and add it to the blender along with hung yogurt and salt and blend well to form a smooth paste.
– Line a strainer with muslin cloth and add the smooth paste to it.
– Wrap the cloth and place a heavy substance on it.
– Refrigerate the same for about 12 hours. After 12 hours, once it is fully set, trasfer it to a plate.
– The fresh homemade cream cheese is ready to use.

    Can i know the difference in taste between this cream cheese and store bought cream cheese?
    I tried this cream cheese but it was not that cheesy in taste,it was simply of creams texture but no cheesy taste. I didn't used yogurt, was that the reason for no cheesy taste?

  • Did you make the paneer from full fat milk because I don't have full fat milk available here and also I tried making the creamcheese from curdled milk but the lemon juice smell did not go away from the fresh paneer. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks for the recipe. I want to know why some of the chefs have just blended the curdled paneer to make crem cheese. Some videos do not have mention to add yoghurt. Does it affects the texture? I really want to try cheesecake but so confused with difference in content. May be you can post a recipe 🙂
