Ven Pongal – Recipe

Ingredients:
Raw rice – 1 cup
Moong dal – 1 cup
Water – 600 ml
salt
ghee – 1/4 cup
Few cashew nuts
Pepper corns – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Chopped Ginger – 2 tsp
Pinch of asafoetida powder
Few curry leaves
Method:
1. Rinse and soak the raw rice (Buy https://goo.gl/odCxeB ) and moong dal in water for 30 minutes
2. In a pressure cooker (Buy https://goo.gl/kBzYCF )add the soaked rice & dal, salt & water. Pressure cook till done
3. In a pan (Buy https://goo.gl/ptL2ye ), heat 1/4 cup ghee. Roast the cashewnuts, pepper corns, cumin seeds and chopped ginger.
4. Turn off the flame (Buy https://goo.gl/egFtsG ).. Add asafoetida powder and curry leaves. Mix well
5. Add the roasted ingredients to the cooked rice & dal. Mix well. Done!
