Chettinad Mushroom Masala
Ingredients
Mushroom – 200 gms
Oil – 2 Tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Onion – 1 cup chopped
Green chili – 2 nos slit
Curry leaves
Tomato – 2 nos chopped
Turmeric powder – 1/4 Tsp
Chili powder – 1 Tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves
For Masala Paste
Oil
Coriander seeds – 1 Tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
Fennel seeds – 1 Tsp
Peppercorns – 1/2 Tsp
Red chili – 4 nos
Garlic
Ginger
Grated Coconut – 2 Tbsp
Soaked Tamarind
Method
Heat a pan with some oil and roast all the ingredients required for the masala paste except tamarind
Cool the ingredients and transfer it to a mixer jar, add the soaked tamarind
Add very little water and grind everything to a fine paste
Heat a pan with some oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds
Once the mustard seeds splutter, add onions, green chili, curry leaves and saute them
Add tomatoes and cook them
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and saute
Add mushrooms and mix well
Add the ground masala paste and close and cook for 8 mins
Serve the Chettinad Mushroom masala hot with steamed rice or roti
