To Make Chammanthi
Coconut Oil – 2 Tsp
Onion – 2 Nos
Red Chilli – 10 Nos
Tamarind
Coconut – 1 No.
Curry Leaves
Ginger
Cumin Seeds – 2 Tsp
Rock Salt – 1 Tsp
Coconut Oil – 1 Tbsp
Method
To a pan add two tsp of coconut oil.
Add the chopped onions to the pan and sauté it.
Onions need not be saute’d till golden brown, just sauté them
till the raw smell goes.
Now add ten red chillies with the onion,
Add few pieces of tamarind to it.
Roast it well.
Once done, transfer the roasted ingredients to a plate and
allow it to cool.
Once cooled, transfer it to a mixer jar.
Add one coconut freshly grated.
Add few fresh curry leaves, a piece of ginger chopped, two
tsp of cumin seeds, one tsp of rock salt, one tbsp of coconut
oil and close the jar.
Grind it without adding any water.
Kerala style coconut chammanthi is ready to be served with
hot steaming rice along with a tsp of ghee…
