Ingredients:

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt
Tamarind puree – 1/4 cup
Few Coriander Leaves

Oil – 1 tsp
A small piece Cinnamon
Cloves – 4 pieces
Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
Poppy seeds – 1 tbsp
Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 tsp
Chana Dal – 1 tbsp
Red Chillies – 8 nos.
Coconut – 2 tbsp (freshly grated)

For Tempering:
Ghee – 2 Tbsp
Chana Dal- 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida Powder – 1 tsp
Red chilli – 1 no.
Few Curry Leaves
Vegrtables:
Shallots – 1 cup
Green Capsicum -1 no. chopped
Carrot – 1 no.
Potato – 1 no.
French Beans – 4/5 nos.
Brinjal – 2 nos.
Green Peas – 1 cup
Tomatoes – 2 nos.
Drumstick – 1 no.
Method:
1. Rinse the rice & gram dal and cook them together with 4 cups of water for 3 to 4 whistles.
For Bisi Bele Bath Masala Paste
2. Heat Oil in a pan. Add the Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander seeds, Poppy seeds, Fenugreek seeds, Chana dal, Red chilies & roast well.
3. Once the ingredients turn light brown, add the fresh grated coconut.
4. Turn off the stove & toss it around for a minute till it cools.
5. Grind into a fine paste by adding little water.
your Bisi Bele Bath Masala Paste is ready
6. Heat ghee in a pan. Add chana dal, urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, Asafoetida powder and curry leaves.
7. Now add the vegetables (Shallots, Capsicum, carrot, beans, potato, brinjal, green peas tomatoes) and saute
8. Add turmeric powder and Salt. Cook till the vegetables are half cooked
9. Add the chopped drumstick and water till it covers the vegetable.
10. Cover and cook for 5 minutes
11. Add the bisi bele bath masala paste and some more water and mix well
12. Cook for another 10 minutes and add the tamarind puree
13. Add the cooked rice and dal and mix.
14. Close and cook in medium low flame for 10 to 15 minutes
