Moong Dal curry for Chapati | Hesarukalu Palya North Karnataka Style

Green gram curry is a delicious protein rich dish made with green moong dal, spices, vegetables and herbs. It is usually served with rice or roti or chapati.

Ingredients – ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳು – सामग्रियां :

Green Moong Dal – ಹೆಸರು ಕಾಳು – हरी मूंग दाल – 1 cup
Green Chili – ಹಸಿರು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ – हरी मिर्च – 3
Grated Coconut – ತುರಿದ ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿ – किसा हुआ नारियल – 1/2 cup
Oil – ಎಣ್ಣೆ – तेल – 4 tbs
Cumin Seeds – ಜೀರಿಗೆ – जीरा – 1 tbs
Mustard Seeds – ಸಾಸಿವೆ – सरसों के बीज – 1 tbs
Ginger Garlic Paste – ಶುಂಠಿ ಬೆಳ್ಳುಳ್ಳಿ ಪೇಸ್ಟ್  – अदरक लहसुन का पेस्ट – 1 tbs
Onion – ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ – प्याज – 1, finely chopped
Curry Leaves – ಕರಿಬೇವು – करी पत्ता – 2 tbs
Salt – ಉಪ್ಪು – नमक – to taste
Turmeric Powder – ಅರಿಶಿನ ಪುಡಿ – हल्दी – 1/2 tbs
Sambar Powder – ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಪುಡಿ – सांभर पाउडर
Tomato – ಟೊಮೆಟೊ –  टमाटर – 1, chopped
Dill – ಸಬ್ಬಸಿಗೆ ಸೊಪ್ಪು – सोआ – 1 bunch
Jaggery – ಬೆಲ್ಲ – गुड़ – 1 tbs
Tamarind Extract – ಹುಣಿಸೇಹಣ್ಣಿನ ರಸ – इमली का रस – 1/2 cup
Coriander/Cilantro – ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ – धनिया
