ಬಿರಂಜಿ ಅನ್ನ | North Karnataka Biranji Anna | Biranji Rice recipe in Kannada, Hindi, English

The Biranji Anna is a unique rice dish famous in Ranebennur/Haveri of North Karnataka, India. Biranji Masala in the butter gives the Biranji Anna its unique taste and flavor. It is usually served with Badanekaayi Yenngayi and peanuts chutney.

Ingredients – ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳು – सामग्रियां :

BIRANJI MASALA POWDER:
Oil – ಎಣ್ಣೆ – तेल – 1 tbs
Cinnamon – ಚಕ್ಕೆ – दालचीनी – 3 inch
Cloves – ಲವಂಗ – लौंग – 6
Cardamom – ಏಲಕ್ಕಿ – इलायची – 3
Coriander Seeds – ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ ಕಾಳು – धनिया के बीज – 2 tbs
Cumin Seeds – ಜೀರಿಗೆ – जीरा – 1 tbs

OTHERS:
Butter – ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ – मक्खन – 100 g
Garlic – ಬೆಳ್ಳುಳ್ಳಿ – लहसुन – 5 cloves, finely chopped
Curry Leaves – ಕರಿಬೇವು – करी पत्ता – 3 tbs
Coriander/Cilantro – ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ – धनिया – hand full, chopped
Star Anise – ಚಕ್ರ ಮೊಗ್ಗು – चक्रफूल – 1
Black Pepper – ಕರಿಮೆಣಸು – काली मिर्च – 1/2 tbs
Cashew – ಗೋಡಂಬಿ – काजू – 1/2 cup
Basmati Rice – ಬಾಸುಮತಿ ಅಕ್ಕಿ – बासमती चावल – 1.5 cups
Salt – ಉಪ್ಪು – नमक – to taste
