Ambot Tik is usually made with shark fish & is a local Goan delicacy. We Goans just cannot do without our fish curry rice & ambot tik definitely is one of our top favorites! Ambot means ‘sour’ & Tik means ‘hot & spicy’ in Konkannim. In Goa, you will get to enjoy this not only on festive occasions or parties but they do serve this as a speciality in restaurants, beach shacks in North & South Goa. Some home stays also do serve this unique & special dish. I’ve used fresh catfish for this recipe. You must give it a try, i’m sure you will make it quite often. Enjoy.

Catfish (Cleaned) – 5
Dried Red chilli – 6
Ginger 1/2 inch
Garlic – 6
Cloves – 6
Cinnamon – 3/4 inch
Black peppercorns – 4
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Kokum – 5
Cumin seeds – 3/4 tsp
Onion (chopped) – 1
Tomato (chopped) – 1
Water – 500 ml
Oil – 2 tbsp
salt – 1/2 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
