Description :

Green peas pulao is a delicious and fragrant rice dish. This dish is typically made with basmati rice, green peas, and a blend of aromatic spices and herbs.

This Recipe Serves – 4 People.

Ingredients & Quantity

Long-grained rice (Basmati) – 500 gms (2 cups)
Onions (Peeled & Chopped) – 4 Nos
Tomatoes (Deseeded & Chopped) – 2 Nos
Green Peas – 1/4 Cup
Ginger – Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
Vegetable stock cubes – 3 Nos
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Vegetable oil or Clarified Butter (Ghee) – 4 Tbsp
Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
Cloves – 10 Nos
Black peppercorns – 8 Nos
Cardamon – 5 Nos
Bay leaves – 2 Nos
Hot water – 4 cups

Method,
1) Chop the onions and tomatoes and peel the green peas and keep aside.
2) Soak the basmati rice in water for 15 mins.
3) Heat oil in vessel. Once the oil is hot enough, add all the whole spices and fry for 30 secs.
4) Add the chopped onions and sauté till light golden in color.
5) Add the ginger – garlic paste and fry for 30 seconds.
6) Add the chopped tomatoes and fry till mushy, then add the green peas and give a quick mix.
7) Add the washed and drained rice and fry for a minute.
8) Now add the hot water and double the quantity of rice, vegetable stock cubes, and mix well. Check for taste and accordingly add salt.
8) Cover the lid and cook for 10 – 15 minutes on medium heat until all the water evaporates.
9) Open the lid and mix the rice carefully without breaking the grains.
10) Serve with Chicken Vindaloo and salad, happy cooking!
