Goa is a beautiful coastal region and the natives here have a knack of preparing seafood ever so skillfully. The Crab Xacuti is one of my favourites and here’s how to make it!

■ Ingredients & Quantity
Crabs (cleaned) – 4
Coconut (freshly grated) – 1 cup
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 3/4 tsp
Cloves – 4
Black peppercorns – 5
Cinnamon – 3/4 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Star anise – 2 petals
Mace – 2 fragments
Nutmeg – 1/4 of the nut
Poppy seeds – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Dried red chillies (broken) – 4
Onions (chopped) – 2
Garlic – 6 cloves
Ginger – 3/4 inch
Tomato (chopped) 1
Green chilli (slited) – 1
Refined oil – 3 tbsp
Salt as needed
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Kokum – 4
