Masoor dal (split red lentils) – 1/2 cup
Onion (chopped) – 1
Tomato (chopped) – 1
Green chilli (slited) – 2
Ginger (chopped) – 1/2 inch
Garlic (chopped) – 10 cloves
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Water – 2 cups
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Dried red chillies – 2
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
