Description :

Ripe mango curry that is aambyaanche sasav or ghontache sasav is a vegetarian dish made with small variety of junglee mangoes known as raival mangoes (locally known as ghonta in Goa). To make this dish mangoes are peeled and then cooked in paste made with freshly grated coconut and spices, flavoured with tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves. This sweet & tangy dish goes on well with rice, phulka or rice bhakri.

Ripe raival mangoes (ghonta) – 5
Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Fenugreek seeds – 10 seeds
Dried red chilli (kashmiri or bedgi) – 4
Water as required
Black peppercorns – 5
Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
Tamarind – 1 lemon sized ball
Turmeric seeds – 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds – 1/4 tsp
Refined oil – 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 8
Salt – 1 tsp
Sugarcane jaggery – 3 tsp
