Kumro’r chokka—delicious braised sweet pumpkin and potatoes—Bengali vegetarian recipe: Pujo special
Description :
Kumro’r chokka recipe (also known as kumror chhoka): If you have never tasted kumror chokka you will be shocked by how good this tastes. Just ripe sweet pumpkins braised slowly with potatoes, and a few other garnishes like Bengal gram and grated coconut produce a dish that is certain to find a place in your regular repertoire. The vegetables really shine in this recipe, but the other key flavours are those of bhaja moshla (recipe link below), and ghee. Luchi with kumror chokka used to be a fixture on wedding menus until a few years ago, but has slowly fallen out of favour. But it shouldn’t! Bring chokka back, we say!

Tried this recipe came out well…….
I learned this recipe from my mom & dida, we prepare in the same way as shown but one more veggie we add is potol without which it's incomplete. Kumro potol alur dalna tastes awesome with luchi & paratha.
Some day I will try without potol when its not in d season.
Can I use something else in place of coconut?

Tried out this recipe yesterday and served it alongside bhoger khichuri (also prepared on the lines of your recipe!). Turned out yummy…and was liked by everyone at home. Your recipes are fab, and the presentation is a visual and auditory treat 🙂
