Lockdown cooking in Calcutta: This was filmed on 22 March, which was before the lockdown started in Calcutta.
This is for a Sunday lunch. Our meals usually consist of rice, with a dal, a torkari, and some kind of animal protein like fish or meat, and sweet chutney at the end. Both Insiya and I are cooking. On today’s menu are beans er torkari, leftover aam diye tok dal from yesterday, boal machher jhol and kool er tok.

Na na you guys just can't afford to stop making these videos.. We live in Redwood City, California.. A couple of miles away from where you guys stayed earlier… We moved here in 2015. My husband Ananda knew how to cook. কিন্তু আমি রান্না করতে জানতাম না | When we moved here, both were working, তাই weekend-e Ananda used to cook. 2017-e I quit working. সারাদিন gym করা ছাড়া আর কিছুই করার থাকতো না | ও হাঁ oi idiot box-টার সামনে বসে থাকতাম| মাঝে মাঝে আমি Ananda -কে একটা গান শুনতে শুনেছিলাম| গান-টা "রসে রসে রসে ডুবে" (Priyo Puchkawala)… খুব হালকা আওয়াজ পেতাম| In 2017, when I started cooking, I don't know why, unknowingly I used to hum this tune whenever I used to cook… We had an invitation In Fremont and Ananda cooked biriyani. সবার কাছে অনেক praise পেলো| On our way back, when I praised him too and told him that he has improved a lot. His biriyani this time was fabulous, he told me that there is this youtube channel called Bong Easts, who he follows and tries to improvise his cooking. One afternoon, I was making রুটি| ভীষণ বাজে রুটি বানাতাম আমি | আমি নিজেই খেতে পারতাম না | কান্না পেতো রুটি খেতে, তাই most of the time Ananda, Indian store থেকে কিনে আনতো আর আমার সারা দুপুর কিছু করার থাকতো না | So this time I thought I will see if Bong Eats have any videos on রুটি বানানো | OMG, I make the best রুটি now! And I really really cook so good! I can give the credit to Bong Eats and Bong Eats only (যদিও Ananda-র কাছে-ও অনেক শিখেছি তাও husbands-রা তো খরচার খাতায়). So its our request, please don't stop vlogging… শুভ নববর্ষের শুভেচ্ছা নিও!

করোল্লা কেটে প্রথমে লবন পানিতে কিছুক্ষণ ভিজিয়ে রেখে দিলে করোল্লা কম তিতা লাগবে এবং রান্নার পরও করোল্লার রং ফ্রেশ সবুজ থাকবে। করোল্লার সাথে একটু আলু আর চিংড়ি দিতে পারেনঌ তাতে খেতে আরো ভালো হবে।
